Raag Rageshri is a captivating and melodic midnight melody belonging to the Khamaj Thhat. Known for its deeply romantic and soulful character, it is primarily characterized by the complete exclusion of the note 'Pancham' (Pa). In its most traditional form, 'Rishabh' (Re) is omitted in the ascending scale, resulting in an Audav-Shadav jati. The Raag relies heavily on 'Madhyam' (M) as its Vadi swar and 'Shadaj' (S) as the Samavadi. While it shares structural similarities with Raag Bageshri, the use of Shuddha Gandhar (G) instead of Komal Gandhar distinguishes Rageshri, lending it a brighter and more vibrant emotional palette. It is typically performed during the second prahar of the night and is a preferred choice for expressing 'Shringar Rasa' (love and beauty) through graceful glides and intricate meends.
